So you stumbled on a YouTube Ad of WaveMax TV antenna which is said to access all TV channels for free. You’re probably wondering if it’s legit, or considering taking the risk and placing an order. We all love freebies, don’t we?
Well, here’s what you need to know about Wavemax TV antenna, and why it’s a polished scam you shouldn’t fall for.
Wavemax TV Antenna: Claims & Features
This digital TV antenna boasts of easy installation, HD Video and audio signal of the highest quality, adapts to any TV, and free access to lots of channels. The YouTube commercial claims it was invented by a NASA scientist, and it can decrypt ESPN, FoxSports1, HBO, TBS, TCM, etc.
However, there’s no information online about such invention, neither does the website provide any technical detail about the invention. Moreover, if such a device exist, it wouldn’t be legal.
The Scam
WaveMax is just a digital antenna that can only access your local broadcast networks, like your local channels. It doesn’t have access to ESPN, FoxSports1, etc. You can’t access those channels without cable subscription.
What the sellers of this product had simply done is over-exaggerate the functions and qualities of this device. This is what is called deceptive marketing. Then they use fake countdown timers and false limited offer tags to create a sense of urgency.
In reality, the 50% discount is totally false. Digital antennas of same specs cost between $10 – $35 not the $99 original price displayed on get-wavemax.com. Even the discounted price of $49.99 is still exorbitant.
Then there’s the false ‘2 years guaranty’ promised. There’s no refund policy page backing up the promise. In fact, this is quite disturbing. Why are there no legal pages aside the order and checkout page?
Even the reviews displayed on the site are fake. Reverse image search showed the exact images have been used by other brands. To buttress my point, get-wavemax.com boasts of 1,200 4.9 star customer ratings on TrustPilot, but the link isn’t clickable. It doesn’t take you to their TrustPilot page. As of when this investigation was done, WaveMax TV antenna hasn’t been rated on Trustpilot.com.
Is get-wavemax.com Legit?
The website is secured with SSL encryption so it’s partially safe from online hackers. However, there’s a likelihood of being overcharged by the site. There has been complaints from customers that their bill was padded and they paid for more items than they wanted to buy.
There could be also be subscription trap scam lurking when you place an order from get-wavemax.com.
The Bottom Line
Wavemax is a falsely advertised device. This antenna doesn’t have full free access to thousands of channels as claimed. You can only get local channels, and that it dependent on where you place the antenna, and how strong the signal is.
